Easter Egg soap

I am always looking for something other than candy to fill the Easter baskets with, and found this . . . Easter Egg shaped soaps!

I would just make sure that the kids know that they are soap.  You don't want anyone to try eating them.

If you like them, you can purchase them here.

Personalized Easter Bucket

Here is a great idea for an Easter Basket that your kids could use as storage year round . . .

Get a bucket and paint it, and then add their name.  If you want to decorate it with images of flowers or hearts, they could then use the bucket year round to put toys it for storage.  The name could be painted on or done with stickers. And if you think it is a cute idea but don't want to do the work, you can purchase them here.

Butterflies

I love the images of butterflies. Here are two shirts that I did with the exact same image, using the exact same thread, but because of the color of the shirt that they were on they look very different. I like the purple one the best. Since the image was of a butterfly and the image did not require you to change threads I thought it would be fun to use a varigated thread, which is one that gradually changes from one color to the next.

I think it really helped to bring the butterflies to life.

It's your day!

Here is another birthday card I made recently.

I really like the way that this one turned out.  I used a paper with birthday presents, and then to the side was a paper that had complementing color.  The circles were mostly to cover up were the two pieces of paper came together and did not really line up nice.  If you ever have a "mistake" like that just cover it up and no one will ever know that it was a mistake!  Then I used my Cricut to cut out the words "It's Your Day".  When I put it on top of the card it kind of got lost in the pattern of the presents, so I cut a large circle out of vellum and used that between the presents and the phrase.

Easter Eggs

Since Easter is coming soon, I was wondering if any of my readers have a unique way of decorating Easter Eggs.

I found one that I would LOVE to try at Everyday Cricut.  As most of you know, I love my Cricut and use it for lots of projects, but I never would have thought of using it to decorate Easter Eggs!  They used vinyl, and then any of the Cricut cartridges that they already had to cut out shapes and letters.  Stick those onto the eggs, and then die them and pull off the vinyl to reveal the pattern below.

You could die the eggs first, the put on the shapes and letters and die them a second time to get two colors, or if you like the color of the vinyl that you have then you could even leave that on the egg.

Sure beats the white crayon we used to use to write names on the eggs before we would die them!

Die-Cutting weekend at Archiver's

I have to say, I love a machine that will cut what I want out of the paper I want.  I don't like being limited by the images, colors and patterns that a company picks for their die-cuts or stickers.  I never used to put that many titles on my pages because I did not like the look of my writing, and I did not want to have to go out and find stickers in the right color and size for every page.

If you don't have a die-cutting machine then you should head over to Archiver's this weekend.  The are having free demos so you can see the most popular machines in action, try them our and ask questions.  This way you can pick the perfect machine for you.  There are even free gifts if you purchase select machines.

Better late than never

I recently had to make a belated birthday card for a friend of mine.  It was a case of I just lost track of what day it was, and before I knew it her birthday had passed.  I felt so bad.

Here is what I created.

I used the Animal Kingdom Cricut cartridge to create the turtle, and then made a birthday hat with the Doodlecharms cartridge.  I placed the turtle over some paper I had with road signs, because he obviously got lost on his way to my friend . . . otherwise why would he be so late.

Here is the message that I put on the inside.

Disney

A friend of mine was posting photos over the weekend of taking her daughter's to Disney, and it made me start to think about when we took our kids to Disney.  The photos from that trip were my very first adventure into scrapbooking . . . and I have never turned back!

Here is the cover page for that first book.

I thought using the mouse ears for the two zeros in 2004 was a cute idea.  My own take on the "Hidden Mickeys" of Disney.

Happy Birthday card

Here is a birthday card that I made for a friend of mine.  I found a paper with the diamond pattern in brown and teal, with coral colored flowers on it to use for the background.  The strip of paper at the bottom is a textured handmade paper, and I thought this added something special to the card.

Then, I created my own patterned paper by typing the words Happy Birthday over and over again, and alternating the colors of it between teal and purple.  I then printed this on cream colored paper, and used my Cricut to cut out a flower shape, and backed that in a purple paper.  I used the same purple paper to cut out my friend's name and put that on the card also to make it very personal.

The best part . . . she loved it!

card making

I don't know why, but I have gotten really into card making recently.  I will try and post some more pictures of cards I have made soon.  I am using plain white cards that I purchased a LONG time ago when I was going to make all of my Christmas Cards that I send out, but I think that was the year that my daughter was a baby and you know how you make all of these "big plans" and then the schedule of having a baby in the house changes all of that.

I might need to buy some colored cards too, so that I don't always have to use a piece of colored cardstock for the background of my cards when I don't want the white look.

Inspirational quotes

Do you like to have inspirational quotes around to help you get through the day and stay on track?  I have a friend that is trying to lose weight and I wanted to create something she could look at to help her remember that she is doing great and staying on track, so I created this.

I used some butterfly paper, because we had a conversation about her being like a butterfly who is going to go through a transformation with this process.  Then I used her favorite color, purple, to create the "Way To Go!' with my George and Basic Shapes Cricut cartridge.

Ironically, the day I gave it to her, she had just done a weigh in and found out she lost 4 pounds!

WAY TO GO!

Adjustable cord necklace

I have NEVER made any jewelry in my life, so I was a little worried when my daughter came to me with this problem . . . she wanted a cord necklace with a dolphin pendant to be adjustable so that she would not need someone's help putting it on each time she wanted to wear it. Now, I knew that it was possible to make a cord necklace adjustable, but I figured that the knot tying process would be difficult. A quick Google search and I found this video . . .

That was a LOT easier than I thought it would be!

Party Favors

Here is a quick and easy party favor . . . birthday party, wedding shower, baby shower, graduation . . . what ever you want!

Find out what the favorite candy bar is of the guest of honor, and print out custom candy bar wrappers.  I made these for my sister-in-law's baby shower.  I found a cute baby clip art image and typed in the personalized message and then just wrapped them around the candy bars and secured them with double sticky tape on the back.

I put them all in a pretty photo box, with some tissue paper.  My sister-in-law got to keep the box to use for photos or keepsakes once the baby was born.

Sock Monkey

As some of you know, I was sick for most of last week. Thank goodness I already had quite a few blog entries typed up and scheduled so I did not have to worry about that. While I was in bed I had time to think about crafting things . . . one of the things I thought about was that with the popularity of the Sock Monkey, I wonder if there is any scrapbooking or crafting items with the Sock Monkey image. I think that there is potential here for a great Cricut Cartridge.
